Abstract: Paper about the interpretation of a funerary deposit that was uncovered in an earthwork supporting the processional causeway leading from the Nile floodplain to the temple of Thutmose III in Deir el-Bahari. A guiding thread on multi-scale surveys combining successive digital recordings following a “matrioshka doll” scheme, as a basis for historical and anthropological issues. A set of digital models of decreasing size, nested within each other, from the global topographic and geophysical context, through the basic stratigraphy, the assemblage of sarcophagi, the microstratigraphy inside the coffins, the assemblage of the objects accompanying the mummy, to the shape and geometry of its individual artifacts. Geophysics, photogrammetry, prosopography, typology, semiology hand in hand.
